| Dells may change sign ordinance for sword store
The sign would continue to use the existing canopy, although its design would be changed and the posts holding it would be encased in stone. Assistant Public Works Director Chris Tollaksen said in order to approve the sign, the BID needs to ask the city council and its legislative committee to approve changes in the ordinance. Because the current sign ordinance restricts the size of letters, Tollaksen said the BID committee could not approve it unless the council changed the ordinance. The committee could approve the structure of the canopy, he said.Under the current sign ordinance canopies are prohibited unless they were up before the ordinance was adopted. Members of the committee questioned whether the city wants to move towards eliminating canopies or whether it should allow them to continue.
Jeff Thelen's Blog
Do you have any ideas to save money? We ran a couple of stories this week talking about the tough economic times that could lie ahead. And we heard some great advice from experts and the people putting them into action. They say you need to write down a budget and stick with it. Save money and take advantage of your 401k plan as much as possible. Other advice is find hobbies that don't cost as much money (play basketball instead of buying video games) cut down on your number of stops per week at your favorite high end coffee shop and read stuff off the internet instead of subscribing to a magazine. So, do you have any ideas? Feel free to share them. You know what to do. J Respond to Jeff's blog here: Jeff, I saw the clip on "Hunters Coalition Against Earn-A-Buck" and am looking for contact info.
Fujitsu Evolves Leading Workgroup Segment With Release of New Scanning ...
The advanced paper feeding technology incorporated into the Fujitsu fi-6130/fi-6230 scanners reduces document preparation time, while providing improved paper handling. The innovative feeding system employs a new reversing brake-roller technology that helps maintain the tapered edge on paper batches to more reliably separate sheets during the scanning process. A larger pick-roller design works in concert with the advanced separation technology to permit a broader range of paper weights to pass through the feeder mechanism (11 to 56.2 lbs). Additionally, ultrasonic double feed detection and a newly designed scanner panel provides exceptional control for the operator. In addition to offering best-in-class functionality and value, Fujitsu also provides industry-leading software bundles for its scanners.
I Drove The Indy 500
The Miller 91 looked to other cars of the period like Jim Clark's rear-engined Lotus-Ford in 1965. It was so different, so unusual, so perfectly engineered. You'd look at it and your eye would just fall on all the different interesting places and you'd go, "Look at thaaat!" Other racers saw it and probably said, "Well, let's just go home." Harry Miller was one of the most unknown guys. The average person might know Duesenberg or Bugatti, but he probably doesn't know about Miller. He was an intuitive engineer with no formal training, but he was an artist who knew, he just knew, how a part should look or feel, right down to the tiniest millimeter. I have a Bugatti that was one of three cars that American race driver Leon Duray traded for two Miller 91s that he originally brought over to France to race.
What Darwin Teaches About the Drug War
The U.S. government responds by pumping billions more dollars into the war on drugs. Federal spending for this "war without end" is more than twenty times what it was in 1980 and still the drug traffickers appear to be winning. Despite more than six billion dollars spent on "Plan Colombia" alone, cocaine production has actually increased in that country. Now the Bush Administration is asking for $1.4 billion more to aid the Mexican government's drug crackdown through the "Merida Initiative." Although it may seem counterintuitive, the "law and order" response by our politicians only intensifies the problem. Instead, they might turn to Charles Darwin's theory of evolution to glean insight as to why these "common sense" reactionary solutions often are counterproductive. As illegal drugs become easier to obtain and more potent, politicians respond in a knee-jerk manner by ramping up law enforcement.
Extra! UIdaho Student Found Shot to Death
I had avoided doing so because I had heard getting into the show required great dedication and frankly, I didn't think i had the time. I have since purchased the first three seasons, having watched the first two seasons in less than two weeks time. I am half way through the 3rd season and not looking back. My question for the forum: do you watch this show? Do you find it as thrilling, exciting and thought provoking as I do? Jack Bauer for president '08? I really need to know if I am alone with this as my sleep pattern has been significantly altered since becoming a "24 freak"?! Also, I figured this show may be popular with the HBO crowd so advice from you regulars is much appreciated! JimmyMAC .

Face Blind
Housman found work as a swing-shift building manager for a Hasidic college in Borough Park, Brooklyn. Most nights, he sits behind a small window near the entrance, answers questions, and is supposed to keep an eye on who is coming and going. Housman doesn't think he's ill-suited for the task; he has developed other ways to recognize people. On a recent Monday night, he peers out of his small window, chews on a pen while beads of sweat gather on his forehead, and watches people walk past. He recognizes one student by his "intense, inwardly focused attitude." He greets a professor he thinks he recognizes by the type of yarmulke he is wearing, though it turns out to be the wrong guy. A young man darts past, but Housman knows him. "I recognize him by his soul," he says. For Housman, as for most prosopagnosics, the Internet is changing everything.
