| OIA receives go-ahead to charge new rental-car tax
It's about to get more expensive to rent a car at Orlando International Airport. Board members of the Greater Orlando Aviation Authority, the agency that runs OIA, voted Wednesday to adopt a $2.50-a-day tax on car rentals. The "customer facility charge," which would be capped at five days, could add as much as $12.50 to a customer's bill. Backers said the tax will raise money for $102.6 million worth of rental-car upgrades planned at the airport during the next few years, including additional parking spaces, fueling stations and car-wash bays. .
Local Gas Station Charging Over $4 Per Gallon Near OIA
ORLANDO, Fla. -- There was a break for the holidays, but gas prices are ready to rise again. One local gas station, though, is already charging customers much more than others. RAW INTERVIEW: Manager Defends $4.49 Per Gallon Customers at the independent gas station near the Orlando International Airport are paying $4.49 a gallon. Some of the customers don't know the price they're paying until it's too late. There are no large signs showing the prices at the station. Most customers are tourists returning rental cars before catching flights at Orlando International Airport. Not all believe it's an honorable way to conduct business. "It's not fair. It's definitely price gouging during the holiday season," said tourist Les Lazarus. Even at $4.49 a gallon for regular, most of the pumps were busy at Suncoast Energys on Friday morning.

I am sick of stating my views on anti-piracy "activists". the fact is that the internet is changing the world and if a business wants to compete suing the customers is a bad idea. if you don't want me to download something, convince me to buy it. .
Global Warming Update: Snowfall Records Being Broken in New England
The road in front of the house, which is usually more than wide enough for two cars, is now so narrow that two cars have to slow down to a crawl to pass each other by. I've raked the snow snow off my roof 6 times this year because of the weight of the snow on the roof. More snow is forecast for later today. My question: where is global warming in a winter when ya really need it???? ;+} Liberal's Basic Rule For Discourse: I don't care if you agree with my premises, but I demand that you agree with my conclusions. .
Inness joins ranks of cricket retirees
Western Australia fast bowler Mathew Inness has announced his retirement from first-class cricket to take up a strength and conditioning position at the WACA. With Justin Langer also announcing his retirement this week, Inness chose to keep his retirement quiet until the first ball was bowled in Friday's Pura Cup game against Tasmania, which he is also playing in. Moving over to WA from Victoria in 2005, Inness became a key member of the Warriors squad this season, second behind Steve Magoffin in WA's first-class wicket takers this season with 33. "It has been satisfying to work my way back into a regular spot in the Warriors' Pura Cup team, play well and prove to myself that I could still perform at this level," Inness said. "So I'm pleased to have the opportunity to retire on my own terms, and going straight into my new role will make the transition to life after playing a lot smoother." Inness will replace the WACA's current strength and conditioning coach Greg Hardy, who is leaving to take up coaching in the West Australian Football League.
