Why Huck Stayed In

He dominated the Kansas caucuses (60-24%) and Washington and Louisiana are too close to call at this hour.

The race isn't any less over than it was 48 hours ago. But it seems likely that Huckabee could accumulate a significant number of delegates and (possibly) keep McCain under the magic number until after March 4th.

There was a question of whether Huckabee supporters would invariably flow to Romney; but Romney voters sure are flocking to Huckabee, raising a legitimate question of whether a social conservative-led anti-McCain bloc would have fared better in the early primaries.

I now expect the protest vote for Huckabee to be quite strong in most states as turnout plummets, maybe 30-40% in the South and Midwest and 20-30% elsewhere, rising to outright victories in caucuses and in the Deep South.

Orlando airport to spend $381M to boost main terminal's capacity

Orlando International Airport is about to embark on a nearly $400 million construction plan designed to squeeze an extra five years of life from its main terminal.

Planners say the sweeping overhaul -- which will include pushing the third-level ticket counters back 12 feet, replacing 18 luggage-claim stations and installing new self-service machines alongside the curbs and the counters -- would allow the airport to put off the far more expensive construction of a second terminal until at least 2015.

The board of the Greater Orlando Aviation Authority, which oversees OIA, voted Wednesday to spend an initial $5 million to engineer the initial changes and to begin soliciting bids from contractors who want a piece of the work.

Clinton campaign starts 5-point attack on Obama

Recession and/or depression ? Eloquence can fool someone sometimes, but surely not all the people at all times. We need someone who could lead us through this stormy weather in treacherous water to a safe, peaceful and wonderful future, there is no time for someone to use the country for some amateurish experiment just because he has a dream. His dream might become our collective nightmare. You need to think carefully. Don't let your emotion run wild.

Ban on shisha - love it or hate it

Abu Dhabi/Fujairah: The Abu Dhabi government's decision to stop issuing licences for new shisha cafes has drawn kudos for protecting public health but shisha lovers, too, have come out in strength in support of the "symbol of the Middle East".

Owners of shisha cafes are not happy with the decision since it affects their growing business as it is becoming more popular and the number of shisha smokers is increasing. Moreover, many people consider it a traditional symbol of the Middle East.

City Talk took to the streets and asked residents whether they liked the decision or not and whether it would be useful for public health or was it just a ban on personal freedom. .

The Latest Headlines...

The weapon he was issued was the American-made sub-machine gun, hence the nick-name Thompson. Marko Perkovic was quickly catapulted to fame by his patriotic song, "Cavoglave," dedicated to defenders from the village of his birth. The song inspired all Croatian defenders. It inspired Croatian civilians and Croatians all around the world at a very critical moment in the small nation's history. It was on that foundation that he built his career. And "Thompson" soon became a house-hold name.

What type of music does "Thompson" perform? "Thompson" is a hard-rock/heavy-metal band. Many of the band's songs are comprised of ethno-elements, folk poetry and songs that have for centuries accompanied Croatian folk-dances. "Thompson" has also been known to perform and record pop-songs.

What does Marko Perkovic sing about? Marko Perkovic and his band are certainly not one-dimensional.

Walter Cronkite

The ripple effect is dramatic.

Even more dramatic are some of the tactics homeowners are using to fight back against many of the deceptive subprime and other loans that knowingly put them in unaffordable situations. When courts favor property rights over human rights, many are just trashing their homes in an orgy of anger and revenge before abandoning them.

You might say these homeowners should have known better. True, some may have been scammers in the American tradition of always seeking a good deal, buying now and paying later. But there's no longer any denying that a large number were victimized by predatory practices and “deals" pedaled by sleazy brokers but backed by top banks and investment houses.

Richard Biter, a former Subprime salesman tells all in, “Greed, Fraud & Ignorance: A Subprime Insider's Look at the Mortgage Collapse." He reports, according to a review by blogger Charles Hugh Smith, “that up to 80% of all subprime loan applications were rejected by honest subprime mortgage brokers.

Economy clouds convention hall plan's rollout today

National economic difficulties and public skepticism about the huge price tag could pose tough political challenges for the plan being rolled out today for a new downtown convention center.

The plan, requested by Mayor Karl Dean, is expected to offer a road map for building a new convention hall south of Sommet Center. Dean supports the idea, saying the city needs to catch up in the race for major conventions and tourist activity; critics note that privately run Gaylord Opryland Resort & Convention Center is expanding, too.
